Opia Investments (Pty) Ltd (2017/399730/07), trading as Opia Stays, is responsible for the personal information described in this notice. Its business address is 27 Somerset Road, Green Point, Cape Town, 8005.
When you enquire directly, Opia may receive your name, email address, phone number, preferred stay, travel dates, guest count and any message you choose to include. If you join the offers list, Opia also records your email address and subscription consent.
Opia uses enquiry details to respond to your request, confirm availability, prepare quotes, issue invoices or leases, coordinate check-in, manage the guest stay, keep required business records and protect guests, properties and the business. If you confirm a marketing subscription, Opia uses your email address to send occasional offers and last-minute availability.
You choose whether to send an enquiry. Without enough contact, stay and date information, Opia may not be able to answer your request, prepare a quote or complete a booking.
Opia uses service providers for hosting, email, WhatsApp communication, analytics and booking administration. Information may also be shared with professional advisers, regulators or authorities where reasonably necessary or required by law. Opia does not sell guest information.
Some technology providers may store or process information outside South Africa. Where this happens, Opia takes reasonable steps to use reputable providers and appropriate contractual, privacy and security safeguards.
Opia keeps booking and enquiry records for as long as reasonably needed for guest support, accounting, legal, security and operational purposes.
Opia uses reasonable technical and organisational safeguards to protect personal information. No email, messaging or online system is completely risk-free. If a security compromise affects personal information, Opia will respond and notify affected people and the Information Regulator where required.
You may ask to access, update or correct your personal information, request deletion where legally permitted, or object to particular processing. You can withdraw marketing consent at any time using the unsubscribe link in an email. Opia may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.
If you accept analytics, Opia uses Google Analytics 4 to understand visits, device and browser types, approximate location, page views, campaign sources and selected booking or enquiry actions. This may include the stay, button location and booking method selected. Opia does not send Google the name, contact details, travel dates or notes entered into an enquiry. Analytics does not load if you decline.
Opia's PAIA manual explains which records are held and how to request access to them under the Promotion of Access to Information Act.
